What to Expect at Your First Visit
When you arrive for your examination, your eyes will be dilated. This dilation will last for several hours. Since dilation can make your eyes light sensitive, it's best if you have someone come to your visit with you so they can drive you home. It's also a good idea to wear sunglasses when you leave our office. If you don't have sunglasses, we can give you a disposable pair. During each visit the nurse or technician will check your vision and eye pressure. Next, the physician will check your eyes, paying particular attention to your retinas. At that point, the physician may ask you to undergo additional testing such as Fluorescein angiography, OCT testing, or ultrasonography. These tests are all performed in our office. The physician will talk with you about the test results before you leave our office. The physician will design an appropriate treatment plan for you. If this plan includes laser treatments, those treatments can be performed in our office. |
