Dr. Carroll, a Dayton native, earned his medical degree from The Ohio State University and also completed his residency in the department of ophthalmology at OSU. He went on to complete a fellowship in retina and vitreous surgery through the University of Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary.
Dr. Carroll serves as Chief of Ophthalmology at the Dayton Veteran's Affairs Medical Center and directs the Veteran's Affairs Medical Center segment of The Ohio State University department of ophthalmology residency program.
Dr. Carroll is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and serves as an assistant clinical professor at The Ohio State University. He also has published several articles in professional journals and has delivered lectures on various topics in ophthalmology.
In 1980, Dr. Carroll founded Retina Physicians & Surgeons, Inc.
Dr. Carroll lives in the Dayton area and is very active in several Miami Valley organizations.

Warren M. Sobol, M.D.

Dr. Sobol earned his medical degree from Duke University, Durham, North Carolina and completed his residency through the department of ophthalmology at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Texas. He then completed a retina-viteous fellowship at the University of Iowa in Iowa City. He has earned many honors, including serving as a Morehead Scholar by the John Motley Morehead Foundation in 1977.
Dr. Sobol is a frequent reviewer for professional articles and journals and has also published articles and delivered lectures on various topics in ophthalmology.
Dr. Sobol is a member of the Vitreous Society, a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and serves as an assistant clinical professor at The Ohio State University.
Dr. Sobol and his wife, a Dayton native, have five children.
In 1991, Dr. Sobol joined Retina Physicians & Surgeons.

A. Marie Martinek, M.D.

Dr. Martinek earned her medical degree from the University of Michigan. She completed her ophthalmology residency and vitreoretinal fellowship at the Kresge Eye Institute/Wayne State University, Michigan.
Dr. Martinek is a member of the Vitreous Society, a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and serves as an assistant clinical professor at The Ohio State University. She speaks professionally to local and national organizations.
Dr. Martinek, a former gymnast, lives in the Greater Dayton area with her husband, a radiologist in the Dayton area, and their four children.
In 1996, Dr. Martinek joined Retina Physicians & Surgeons.

Bruce M. Buerk, M.D.
|
Dr. Buerk, a native of Oxford, Ohio, earned a medical degree from The Ohio State University. He completed a residency in ophthalmology at the Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary in Chicago, Illinois where he was selected Chief Resident in his final year. He then completed a vitreo-retinal fellowship at the Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary.
Dr. Buerk has been co-author in several peer-reviewed journals in various topics of ophthalmology and presented posters at national meetings such as the Retina Society and the Association for Research and Vision in Ophthalmology.
In 2004, Dr. Buerk joined Retina Physicians & Surgeons.
